Welcome to Warrnambool Stays!

Warrnambool - Located 264 kms south-west of Melbourne, approximate 3 hr 30 min drive (A1) Princes Highway or 6 hours via the Great Ocean Road. Warrnambool the largest city on the Great Ocean Road has a permanent population of 31,000 and overlooks the sheltered beach of Lady Bay. Manicured parks and gardens, visiting whales, the Grand National Steeplechase, many notorious shipwrecks, contemporary art, volcanoes - there is something for everyone, and with the largest range of accommodation, dining and shopping to be found in the south-west Warrnambool is a must visit.

Mahogany Ship - A mysterious shipwreck buried deep beneath the sand dunes on Warrnambool's outskirts is just one of the intriguing tales that contribute to the citys unique history....the story goes that a Portuguese vessel, known by the locals as the Mahogany Ship ran aground off Warrnambool in the early 1500's. Sightings of this wreck constructed of a 'red wood' are well documented throughout the 1800's. If ever found or proven, the Mahogany Ship could well rewrite the history of Australia.
